EURL assignation

EU regulation by with the European Commission designated Anses as EURL for fungi and oomycetes

ANSES has been designated by the European Commission (EC)  as the European Reference Laboratory (EURL) for pests on plants, on fungi and oomycetes in the Commission Implementing Regulation 2019/530 of 27 March 2019.

The roles and activities of EURLs are regulated by Regulation (EU) 2017/625 of 15 Mach 2017, supplemented by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2018/631 of 7 February 2018.

EURLs' main function is to support EC activities and to ensure high-quality laboratory analysis, as well as to support and coordinate EU National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) activities and diagnostic techniques.

EU Plant Health laws

From 14th of December 2019, a new European Regulation on Plant Health, Regulation (EU) 2016/2031 on protective measures against plant pests (also called "Plant Health Law"), will be applicable in all European countries. It will replace the current Council Directive 2000/29/EC.

The aim of the new Regulation is to update the plant health regime, and reinforce European plant biosecurity.
