The EURL welcomed the NRL network for its annual workshop
The EURL for Bee Health held its 15th annual workshop on 15th October 2025 in Sophia Antipolis (France). We warmly thank all the speakers for their interesting presentations and all the participants for their contributions to the fruitful discussions.
The participants had the pleasure to listen to two presentations on NRLs’ activities and the current honey bee health status in Ireland by Adam Morgan (representative of the Irish NRL) and in Italy by Franco Mutinelli (head of the Italian NRL). Ingrid Olstad, representative of the Norwegian NRL, presented the results of a pathogen-screening project comparing bee matrices in Norway and made an overview of their NRLs’ activities. The EURL presented the results of an inter-laboratory proficiency test organised in bacteriology for the NRL network in 2025. The biannual questionnaire sent to the NRLs on the analytical capabilities of the network was also presented.
This year, a focus was made on Tropilaelaps spp. considering the recent spread of this parasite towards Europe. A session was dedicated to the actions that the EURL and the network could implement to improve surveillance, prevention and control measures in the EU.
The workshop ended by the presentation of the EURL activities during the last period and the work perspectives.
Documents and presentations of the workshop can be found here for the NRL network.
