The EURL organizes Proficiency Tests (PT) on detection and identification of regulated quarantine plant-parasitic nematodes in order to assess and ensure the reliability and accuracy of the analyses carried out by the National Reference Laboratories (NRLs).
Proficiency tests are performed under accreditation according to the ISO 17043 standard.

The European Union Reference Laboratory for Plant Parasitic Nematodes yearly organizes a workshop, especially intended for the National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) in the European Union. The purpose of these workshops is to inform the participants about the activities of the EURL, to present and discuss the results of Proficiency Tests (PT), to present and discuss scientific research projects and to exchange information on the European Union legislation, methods, and other relevant subjects.

2023 Training on Diagnostic methods for detection and identification of Meloidogyne graminicola - On-site
A training for 10 NRLs on how to detect the rice root-knot nematode in soil and root samples was organized by EURL partner ILVO
(10-12/10/2023).
Molecular and morphological methods for correct identification of Meloidogyne graminicola were shown and discussed.

The EURL for plant-parasitic nematodes organised a training session on the detection and identification of the rice root-knot nematode Meloidogyne graminicola.
The session took place on-site at the ILVO Plant Health Site, in Belgium on the 10th 11th and 12th of October 2023.
