Giusi Amore is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with a PhD in Epidemiology and more than 15 years of work experience in the epidemiology of zoonoses and food safety. In July 2008, she joined the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as a scientific officer. Giusi works in EFSA’s Unit on Biological Hazards and Animal Health and Welfare, where she actively contributes to the production of the joint EFSA-ECDC annual European Union One Health report on zoonoses and foodborne outbreaks, as well as the EU summary report on antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic and indicator bacteria from humans, animals, and food. She has also been involved for several years in the production of joint ECDC-EFSA Rapid Outbreak Assessments of multi-country foodborne events. Giusi’s main fields of expertise include the monitoring of zoonoses and zoonotic agents, as well as the monitoring and assessment of foodborne outbreaks in the European Union context.
